Tamar Broadbent: Plus One

Tamar Broadbent

Patch

Tamar’s going to be a mother. She doesn’t feel ready yet, but she’s hoping to by the end of this show. With songs like ‘Judgy Baby,’ ‘Don’t Get All My Bad Stuff’ and ‘An Ode to Alcohol,’ Plus One is a hilarious and heartfelt cabaret about the very normal and very insane experience of having a baby.

Join award-winning songwriter and comedian Tamar Broadbent as she sings you through fertility tests, fears of giving birth and the devastating challenge of having to give up wine for nine months. Featuring all original music played live on the piano and guitar, and even an improvised club anthem, this is the perfect night out for parents or parents-to-be, plus those who never want to be parents and can delight in all wonderful things they’re missing (like Sciatica!)

As Tamar Googles tiny wellies and tries not to get too mad that her job is to have a baby whilst her husband’s job is to ‘bring snacks’ to the hospital, she wonders... what does it truly take to become a mother? Does the woman you were have to disappear to make way for the mother you are going to be? And will she ever see her belly button again?

As heard on BBC Radio 4 and as seen on Comedy Central online and at Boom Chicago US comedy theatre. ★★★★ ‘Boasting an original comic voice, assured musicianship, and a beguiling onstage presence, she’s a genuine triple threat’ – Fest. ★★★★ ‘The next big thing’- One4Review. ★★★★ ‘Brings the house down’ – Skinny. ★★★★ ‘A fantastic, hilarious gem’ - Musical Theatre Review. 'Talented, bright and funny!' - Michael Palin.
