The ACID JAZZ club night returns for a second year at Colchester Fringe.
The ACID JAZZ night (officially known as “A Natural Feelin”) was established in 1993 by brothers Jon and Robin Betts and ran monthly in Colchester on the last Friday of every month for the next 13 years.
The nights became an integral part of Colchester’s music scene, and (possibly) was one of the longest running club nights in the South East of England.
So please join us at the Three Wise Monkeys from 9pm to 2am for a night showcasing the best in funk, soul, acid jazz, disco and rare grooves.
Joining Jon on the decks are DJ’s Skeg and Tony S.
DJ Skeg is one of the founders of the Breakin Bread crew who ran London’s best soul, funk, disco and hip hop club for over 20 years from the late 90’s. Skeg also hosts the Breakin Bread radio show and runs the Breakin Bread record label. He is known for his party rockin DJ style and has spun records all over the world and DJ’ed at all the top festivals including Glastonbury.
DJ, producer, remixer and disco editor Tony’s musical journey has included stints as a jazz bass player, composer & sometime studio musician ... and now encompasses all things jazz-funk, house and disco. Formerly a resident DJ at the infamous ‘Tabula Rasa’ Shoreditch parties he has played at numerous other venues including Egg London, Lost My Dog, the Big Chill festival and the Amsterdam Dance Event.
Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on the door
*Please note there is no lift to access the top floor of Three Wise Monkeys. There are five flights of hand-railed stairs to reach the top floor with rest opportunities between each flight.
