This established duo performs French "chansons" from the 40's up to modern day, with some English versions of the original French songs. Paul Riley's unique jazzy, bluesy guitar style is the ideal accompaniment to Gwendal Moële powerfully sensitive vocals. Expect rousing, emotionally-charged renditions of the French classics. Oh là là!
‘ The repertoire of this Essex duo features songs from the early and middle years of twentieth century – often referred to as “chansons”, along with more recent material. Gwendal Moële from Brittany is renowned in the area for his rich “Gallic” voice and charismatic stage presence. Paul Riley plays acoustic guitar in a jazzy, bluesy style which perfectly accompanies the Gwendal’s songs. Some of the duo’s repertoire will be familiar to many British audiences, including Edith Piaf ‘s – ‘’Je ne regrette rien’ and ‘Hymne à l’Amour’, ‘Ne me quitte pas’ by Jacques Brel and’ La Mer’ by Charles Trenet.’

‘Two talented long-time friends of Wivenhoe Folk Club have formed a great duo. Mainly songs in French, from old-time classics like Edith Piaf to more modern material - such as the English version of Jacques Brel's “Ne me quitte pas".
They have been our guests in the past and our audience absolutely loved them - of course they did! Paul's superb guitar and Gwendal's lovely voice combined -what's not to like?
