Every year, Colchester Fringe invites the world’s leading lecturers to give groundbreaking talks on the issues that matter. This year, instead of that, Professor Handler David will give a queer pseudo-lecture (of sorts) on how to put your puppy bitch boy into a submissive headspace through his system of YELPS. What follows is a surprisingly introspective and chaotic search for identity featuring audience participation, homonormative puppet shows, kinky gay sex, and erotic musical numbers.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER FOR AUDIENCES: Consent, "yes", is the backbone of the pup play community and our play. Anyone who wishes to participate during the show must sign a consent form and attach a provided sticker to identify themselves to the performer. The show works with or without audience involvement. You can always say no, choose to stop participating at any time, and you will always be informed before getting on stage what the participation entails. You will never be touched without permission nor should you touch the performer without permission.
Noah Alfred Pantano stars as Professor Handler David and is the writer, director, and producer of the play. He is from the USA and is studying for his Ph.D. in Theatre Studies (Playwriting) at the University of Essex under the supervision of Sean Seeger and Jonathan Lichtenstein. Pantano's work focuses on participatory and immersive queer theatre and how to engage audiences to socially and politically act on their queer empathy. His previous plays include Standing On A Nail: A Queer Horror Story, The Humanoid Chicken is a Metaphor, and Citizen.
American independent musicians Jacob Sullivan, Tungsten Lungs, and Alan Xtra write the score and songs. Their bands include Dracula and His Band The Draculas, The Hit Singles, Jake and the Nowhere, The Blood Clots, and Olive Gardener. They operate under the production label Ded Sullivan Productions.
